Joyce Votes to Strengthen Border Security, Make American Communities Safer
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) released the following statement after voting in favor of the Secure the Border Act of 2023:
“I have visited with CBP officers and agents along the southwest border, questioned Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas in committee hearings, and listened to concerns from families in my district.
“What I’ve seen and heard has confirmed that there is an unprecedented crisis at the southwest border, and this Administration is refusing to take necessary actions to address it.
“H.R. 2 is the first step in securing our border. This legislation will increase the number of Border Patrol agents along the border, provide tools to disrupt cartel activities and human trafficking operations, and deploy advanced technology to the southwest, northern, and maritime borders.
“This bill could not come at a more critical time as the Biden Administration ends the use of Title 42 today, which has been the last remaining lifeline to deter record-breaking illegal immigration.”
Congressman Joyce serves as Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security.
