WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) joined Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and 37 of his Republican colleagues in introducing a resolution to urge the Biden Administration to fulfill its obligation to fully enforce federal immigration laws in response to the migrant surge in Del Rio, Texas. The resolution also requests the Biden Administration take the following actions:

1.       Reinstate the Remain in Mexico Policy

2.       Continue to enforce Title 42 expulsions

3.       Commit more CBP and ICE agents and resources to the southern border

4.       Support Governor Abbott’s September 20th statewide emergency disaster request

“The startling situation unfolding in Del Rio, Texas serves as yet another reminder that the Biden Administration’s misguided and reckless immigration policies have caused the worst illegal immigration and humanitarian crisis our nation has faced in decades,” said Congressman Joyce. “We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. Those two things don’t have to contradict one another. With illegal immigration at a 21-year high, it is critical that the Biden Administration take immediate action to reinstate the effective immigration policies that he previously eliminated so that we can defend and maintain our borders.”

“The Biden Administration’s reversal of immigration policies has led to the historic spike in migration at our southern border, including the recent migrant surge in Del Rio,” said Congressman Gonzales. “In order to prevent another national security and humanitarian crisis, it is critical that our federal government reimplement successful immigration laws and commit further support at the southern border.”
