Joyce Secures Over $18 Million for Local Northeast Ohio Projects in Government Funding Bill

WASHINGTON, DC – Tonight, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2471, Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022, in which Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) successfully secured $18,014,000 for local projects across Northeast Ohio.

“As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I take seriously the responsibility to not only scrutinize federal spending but also direct it where it’s needed most back home,” said Joyce. “I was proud to submit these important funding requests last year and have fought for them ever since. I look forward to having these tax dollars returned to Northeast Ohio and seeing the positive impact they have in our communities.”

Specifically, H.R. 2471 included the following funding requests made by Joyce:

  • $2,764,000 for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to complete additional dredging of Conneaut Harbor in FY2022
  • $460,000 to rebuild Ferry Drive, a critical access road in Ashtabula Harbor
  • $3,880,000 for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to complete additional dredging of Fairport Harbor in FY2022

  • $1,040,000 for the City of Munroe Falls for a waterline crossing project

Importantly, the legislation, which slashed the Biden Administration’s requested increase in domestic spending by nearly two-thirds, also:

  • Includes Joyce’s SANE Act
  • Includes Joyce’s Drug Free Communities Pandemic Relief Act
  • Includes Joyce’s Closing the Law Enforcement Consent Loophole Act
  • Funds a 2.7% pay raise for U.S. servicemembers
  • Provides $13.6 billion in critical military, economic, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine
  • Increases funding for Customs and Border Protection by $800 million and Immigration and Customs Enforcement by $400 million
