WASHINGTON– Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) hosted a telephone town hall to provide the residents of Ohio’s 14th Congressional District with accurate and up-to-date information about the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Joining Dave in this effort were several health officials from across Ohio including:

  • Mr. Lance Himes, Chief of Staff, Ohio Department of Health
  • Dr. Donald DeCarlo, President, University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center
  • Mr. Ron Graham, Health Commissioner, Lake County General Health District
  • Dr. Tom Collins, Associate Chief Medical Officer of Faculty Affairs, MetroHealth

“This is an unprecedented time for our country and for the state of Ohio,” said Dave. “It’s very important that we continue to take proactive, precautionary steps to limit the spread of this disease and stay informed. This is a time for facts, not fear. I am grateful to each of the health officials who took the time out of their busy schedules to help keep the people of Northeast Ohio informed about the COVID-19 outbreak and I thank the constituents who listened to this important, informative discussion.”

Thousands of OH-14 constituents joined the telephone town hall where Dave and the aforementioned health officials discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to the COVID-19 outbreak including, but not limited to, symptoms, how to help prevent community spread, who is at higher risk of serious illness with the disease, the cost of testing, when to get tested, where you can go to get tested, how to support those in quarantine, and what you can do to prepare if you or a family member gets ill, or if your community experiences spread of COVID-19.

The audio of the full call will be uploaded on the Congressman’s website in the next 24 hours. For the most up-to-date information and guidance relating to the COVID-19 outbreak, please visit the websites for the Ohio Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
