Joyce Holds Telephone Town Hall for Workers and Businesses Impacted by COVID-19
BAINBRIDGE – This week, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) held a telephone town hall to provide Northeast Ohio’s workers and small businesses with resources available to help get them through the COVID-19 pandemic. He was joined in this effort by:
- Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted
- Bruce Madson, Assistant Director of Employment Services for the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services
- Kevin Boehner, Director of Small Business and Workforce Policy at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce
- Jerry Cirino, Lake County Commissioner
- Kate Hunyady, District Congressional Liaison, IRS
- Marlene Fitts, Acting Local Taxpayer Advocate, IRS Cleveland Office
“COVID-19 has taken hundreds of lives in Ohio, but it’s also shuttered businesses, stolen jobs and reduced family-sustaining income for countless others,” said Joyce. “This telephone town hall was all about making sure the hardworking people of Northeast Ohio know what resources are available to help them get through this difficult time. I greatly appreciate Lt. Governor Husted, Assistant Director Madson, Mr. Boehner, Commissioner Cirino, Ms. Hunyady, and Ms. Fitts for taking the time to help me keep thousands of constituents across Ohio’s 14th Congressional District informed as we continue to combat the effects of this pandemic.”
“Keeping an open line of communication with Ohio workers and businesses is critical as we navigate the impacts of COVID-19,” said Lt. Governor Jon Husted. “I appreciate Congressman Joyce for leading this telephone town hall and for the opportunity it presented to speak directly to Ohioans about the many resources available to them, their families and their businesses during this difficult time.”
“I appreciated the opportunity to share information about unemployment benefits and other assistance available to Ohioans,” said Bruce Madson, assistant director of Employment Services for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. “We are grateful for Congressman Joyce’s help in approving Ohio’s Disaster Household Distribution Program, which will make it easier for families to receive assistance through the state’s network of food banks.”
“During these unprecedented times, it is important that we provide as much information and resources to our business owners and individuals alike,” Kevin Boehner, Director of Small Business and Workforce Policy at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, said. “The Paycheck Protection Program has the potential to allow small businesses to withstand the economic downturn that is occurring due to the Coronavirus and keep their workers employed throughout the duration of the pandemic. We want to thank Congressman Joyce for having us on the Telephone Town Hall today and we look forward to continuing to work with him and others to help preserve small businesses throughout the state of Ohio.”
“I would like to thank Congressman Joyce for his leadership on this important issue and for his interest in working with local officials as we deal with the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic,” said Lake County Commissioner Jerry Cirino.
