Joyce Holds Telephone Town Hall for Small Businesses Impacted by COVID-19

BAINBRIDGE – Yesterday, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) held a telephone town hall for small businesses in Ohio’s 14th Congressional District that have been impacted by the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He was joined in this effort by:

  • Gilbert Goldberg, Director of the Small Business Administration’s Cleveland District Office
  • Kevin Boehner, Director of Small Business & Workforce Policy at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce
  • Cathy Walsh, Director of the Small Business Development Center at Lakeland Community College
  • Marty McGann, Senior VP of Government Advocacy for the Greater Cleveland Partnership
  • Greg Myers, Executive Director of the Growth Partnership for Ashtabula County
  • Karen Tercek, Executive Director of the Willoughby Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce

“The full effects of the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have yet to be felt but the harsh reality is that our small businesses have already been hit hard, as have those who own them and the workers they employ,” said Joyce. “This telephone town hall was all about making sure small businesses know what resources have been made available by the three COVID-19 relief packages passed by Congress, how to access them, and how those resources can help them get through this challenging time. I thank all of the constituents who listened in and greatly appreciate Mr. Goldberg, Mr. Boehner, Ms. Walsh, Mr. McGann, Mr. Myers and Ms. Tercek for joining me to answer questions from small business owners across OH-14.”

“We want to thank Congressman Joyce for including the Ohio Chamber of Commerce as a part of the small business telephone town hall. Small businesses are the lifeline of Ohio’s economy and it is important that we do as much as possible to preserve them during these unprecedented times,” said Kevin Boehner, Director of Small Business & Workforce Policy at the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. “Telephone town halls like this serve as an important resource for small businesses to have any of their questions answered as well as learn more about what resources are available to them.”

“I applaud Congressman Joyce’s initiative to offer this Town Hall teleconference to small businesses,” said Karen Tercek, Executive Director of the Willoughby Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce. “I have received only positive comments and gratefulness from members for the Congressman offering our members such a resource and great way to connect with small businesses in this challenging time.”

“The Ohio SBDC network is proud to support the work of the federal government, specifically the Small Business Administration, in its effort to assist small businesses with disaster relief funding,” said Cathy Walsh, Director of the Small Business Development Center at Lakeland Community College.
