Congressman Joyce Releases Statement on Continuing Resolution
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) released the following statement after voting for H.R. 7463, the Extension of Continuing Appropriations and Other Matters Act, 2024. This bill avoids a government shutdown and allows additional time to negotiate final spending bills for Fiscal Year 2024.
“As Chairman of the House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee, I have consistently championed passing all twelve individual spending bills. At this juncture, the only way to do that while avoiding a costly government shutdown is by passing this continuing resolution.
“Importantly, I could not in good conscience allow for Border Patrol agents, servicemembers, and other critical safety personnel on the frontlines to go without pay due to Washington’s delay in finalizing a deal.
“With this additional time, I encourage my colleagues to come together to get these bills over the finish line so we can rein in reckless spending and secure important wins for the American people.”
