Congressman Joyce Releases Statement on Continuing Resolution
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 5860, the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2024 and Other Extensions Act:
“Today, I voted in favor of a continuing resolution [CR] to keep the government open through November 17th. This legislation contains an additional $16 billion for disaster relief in response to a string of natural disasters that have occurred across the country. While this procedure was not my first choice to fund the government, it was the only pathway made available at this time to do so.
“Since January, I have worked diligently with my colleagues on the House Appropriations Committee to try to pass all 12 appropriations bills to fully fund the government through regular order. On Thursday night, I passed my Homeland Security appropriations bill in the House with bipartisan support.
“Over the next several weeks, Congress must pass all 12 individual appropriations bills. I encourage my colleagues in both chambers and on both sides of the aisle to come together for the sake of the American people.”
