WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) announced that his office is now accepting submissions for the 40th Annual Congressional Art Competition and invited high school students residing in Ohio’s 14th Congressional District to participate. Started in 1982, the Congressional Art Competition is an annual contest run by the U.S. House of Representatives where high school students from across the country are invited to showcase their artistic abilities.

“Every year, this competition gives Northeast Ohio’s students the chance to show how artistically gifted they are,” said Joyce. “I look forward to seeing the immense talent displayed by this year’s submissions and am excited to have one of our community’s bright young artists’ work representing Ohio’s 14th District in the U.S. Capitol where I have no doubt it will captivate visitors, staff and Members of Congress alike.”

The deadline for submitting artwork for this year’s competition is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2022. All submissions must include a completed Student Information & Release form, which can be found here. Guidelines for students and teachers can be found here. Please note that the Student Release Form requires the signature of the applicant’s art teacher. Each student is permitted to enter up to four entries, and the artwork should be dropped off at either Joyce’s Mentor or Twinsburg offices.

  • The winning piece of art will hang in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
  • The second-place entry will hang in my Washington D.C. office for one year.
  • The third-place piece will hang in my Mentor office for one year.
  • The fourth-place entry will hang in my Twinsburg office for one year.

In keeping with a tradition he started in 2016, Joyce will also be holding a ‘People’s Choice Award’ on his Facebook page, where constituents are encouraged to vote for their favorite artwork. The student who receives the most votes for the People’s Choice Award will also get to have his/her artwork on display in one of Joyce’s district offices for one year.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Katie Burger at the Mentor District office at 440-352-3939.
