Joyce Supports Funding for Last 6 Appropriations Bills
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14), Chairman of the House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee, released the following statement on his vote for the remaining six appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2024. The bill passed the House of Representatives and is now heading to the Senate for consideration.
“While this package is far from perfect, this is the reality of a divided government.
“In Congress, we have a duty to support those who risk their lives every day to protect us. This includes our brave men and women on the frontlines of our border crisis and those overseas and at home defending the freedom of Americans and our allies.
“That’s why this package includes a historic 5.2% pay raise for servicemembers, an increase in funding to hire a record-high 22,000 Border Patrol Agents, and several cuts to unnecessary programs that do nothing to support our national security.
“With the inclusion of these critical provisions, I supported this legislation to protect Americans at home and abroad.”
This package includes Fiscal Year 2024 funding measures for the Appropriations Subcommittees on Defense; Financial Services and General Government; Homeland Security; Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies; Legislative Branch, and State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs.
