WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) reintroduced a bipartisan resolution recognizing National Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) Week. Since 2000, the last full week of January has been known as “National CRNA Week,” a time to recognize the heroic work of CRNAs and CRNA students. This resolution honors over 75,000 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and nurse anesthesiology residents across the United States for their dedication to patient care.

“As the husband of a nurse, I see firsthand the hard work and long hours healthcare professionals put into their jobs every day. CRNAs are vital to our healthcare system, and they deserve to be recognized,” said Congressman Joyce, Co-Chair of the Congressional Nursing Caucus. “The over 3,000 CRNAs in Ohio provide critical care to a variety of patients, and I am proud to honor them with this resolution alongside Congresswoman Schakowsky.”

“Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists are essential to our health care system, delivering safe, high‑quality anesthesia care in hospitals, rural clinics, and beyond,” said Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. “CRNAs are trusted caregivers whose expertise helps ensure millions of patients receive the care they need, when they need it. I’m proud to reintroduce this resolution with Congressman Joyce to honor their service and to reaffirm Congress’s appreciation for their vital contributions to patient safety and access to care nationwide.”

“Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) are critical to our healthcare system, increasing access to care for rural and underserved communities and providing high-quality, safe anesthesia care in the most cost-effective way possible,” said AANA President Jeff Molter, MSN, MBA, CRNA. “The American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA) appreciates U.S. Representatives Schakowsky and Joyce’s support and recognition of CRNAs and joins with them in celebrating CRNA week.”
