WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) released the following statement on his vote to expel Congressman George Santos (NY-03) from Congress. Congressman Joyce served as the Chair of the Investigative Subcommittee that conducted the House Ethics Committee’s comprehensive investigation into Rep. Santos.

“As the lead of the investigation into Rep. Santos, I spent months uncovering numerous unlawful acts and instances of egregious misconduct committed by Mr. Santos. Based on the evidence uncovered by the Investigative Subcommittee, it was clear that he sought to exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for his own personal financial profit, including deceiving donors, reporting fictitious loans, and engaging in a constant series of lies to his constituents about his background and experience.

“The United States Constitution explicitly charges the House with policing the behavior of its own Members and that is what we did today. Rep. Santos is unfit to continue serving as a member of this body. For those who disagree, I encourage them to read the exhaustive report in full, produced from over 172,000 pages of related documents.”
