WASHINGTON – Tonight, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) issued the following statement following today’s vote on H.R. 6800:

“Since the coronavirus pandemic began, I’ve remained committed to working across the aisle to provide Americans the support they need to survive this crisis. This is a time of great need for our country, a time when partisan politics cannot be allowed to prevail over national interest. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened tonight.

“To put it plainly, tonight’s vote was an attempt to exploit the current crisis to push a partisan agenda. It was not a serious effort to help our country get back on its feet.

“This pandemic has taken the lives of more than 85,000 Americans, gutted our economy, and cost more than 36 million workers their jobs. Up until this point, members from both sides of the aisle have come together to provide critical, bipartisan relief to address the challenges caused by that devastation. It’s a shame that Speaker Pelosi chose to put an end that historic bipartisanship.”
