WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Great Lakes Task Force Co-Chairs Dave Joyce (OH-14), Bill Huizenga (MI-4), Marcy Kaptur (OH-9), and Debbie Dingell (MI-6) sent a letter to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries urging consideration of S. 3738, the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Act (GLRI) of 2024, on the House floor before the end of the 118th Congress. They were joined by 19 bipartisan House colleagues. Last week, this bill passed the Senate by unanimous consent.

With the Senate taking clear, bipartisan action to unanimously support the reauthorization of GLRI, it is imperative that the House do the same. This is essential to foster a proactive approach to conservation, which will provide the stability and certainty needed to ensure agencies, local communities, and stakeholders can plan effectively and allocate resources for long-term strategies to benefit the health of the ecosystem,” said the letter.
