WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) issued the following statement on the Senate Amendment to H.R. 6833, Continuing Appropriations and Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2023:

“Since March, I’ve worked across the aisle in good faith to negotiate a bipartisan appropriations package,” said Joyce. “But instead of focusing on the serious business of funding the government, the majority chose to kick the can down the road, skirting their responsibility to govern until after the upcoming election.

“The result is an inadequate bill that does not reflect or address the current needs of the American people.

“While I support much of what’s in the bill, the fact remains that it does nothing to address the high price of energy or provide new sources of reliable, affordable energy, it takes no action to reduce inflation or prevent an economic recession, and it lacks any additional resources to secure our southern border.

“It is lazy, irresponsible governing at a time when the American people need the exact opposite.”
