Joyce Applauds Proposal from POTUS to End Shutdown

Calls for continued good-faith negotiations from members of both parties to fix our broken immigration system

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) released the following statement regarding President Donald J. Trump’s determination to work across the aisle to end the ongoing partial government shutdown and address the crisis caused by our nation’s broken immigration system:

“For too long, partisan politics have prevented us from taking the necessary steps to fix our broken immigration system. As a lawmaker who has previously voted for both increased border security and to provide legal certainty for DACA recipients, I applaud the President for stepping up to the negotiating table with a solution built on bipartisanship to end this shutdown and for jumpstarting the commonsense negotiations needed to not only enhance our border security but to fix our broken immigration system as a whole.”
