WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) announced that his office will host a Military Academy Information Day for students interested in learning more about U.S. service academies. The event will be attended by officials from each of the five service academies: the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO; the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY. The event will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 9:30 A.M. at Auburn Career Center in Concord Township.

“Each year I have the distinct privilege of nominating extraordinary students of Ohio’s 14^th Congressional District to our nation’s service academies,” said Congressman Joyce. “The United States’ service academies have always attracted our best, brightest, and bravest. This information session is a great opportunity for students to find out if attending a service academy is right for them. To all those who plan to attend, I applaud your interest in serving our great nation.”

The information session will include an overview of academy life, instructions on how to work with the Congressman’s office throughout the nomination process, as well as an opportunity for students to meet with academy representatives and discuss requirements for admission. Academy nominations are available only through a Member of Congress, the Vice President, or the President. After receiving a nomination, students must then be accepted by the individual academy for final admission.
