WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) announced Graham Anderson as the first-place winner of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for Ohio’s 14th Congressional District. Graham, a sophomore from Geneva, won with his submission, Swell, which helps senior citizens keep their minds active with accessible puzzles and games. Sisters, Sharon Sharma and Prarthana Sharma, a junior and eighth grader from Willoughby Hills, finished in second place with their submission, Program Hub, an app that connects middle and high school students with educational and extracurricular opportunities.

“The Congressional App Challenge provides students across the country with the opportunity to highlight their skills in coding and computer science,” said Congressman Joyce. “The exceptional talent displayed each year by the students of Ohio’s 14th Congressional District continues to distinguish our community. These apps are a perfect example of the results of Ohio’s continued investment in STEM education. I want to congratulate Graham, Sharon, and Prarthana, and I look forward to seeing them succeed in their future endeavors.”

Established by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2014, this competition is a nationwide event intended to engage students’ creativity and encourage their participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. This competition allows students to compete with peers in their own district by creating and exhibiting their software application, or “app”, for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.
