WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Chairman of the House Appropriations Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee Dave Joyce and Chairman of the House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee Mark Amodei hosted a bipartisan Member roundtable with the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Deanne Criswell, and the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA), Isabel Guzman.

This roundtable comes as Congress evaluates the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) request to replenish FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund (DRF) with $40 billion and the SBA Disaster Loan Program with $2.25 billion in supplemental appropriations, among other items.

“From hurricanes to snowstorms, we have witnessed the unpredictable wrath of Mother Nature in all corners of the country. Just this week in my district, Saybrook Township got 62 inches of snow causing significant damage to a local school,” said Congressman Joyce. “As we review this request for disaster relief funding, it is important to understand how any additional resources provided to these agencies would be used to provide Americans with the help they need while using taxpayer dollars responsibly.”

“In a time of unprecedented federal deficits and devastating disasters that have swept our nation, it is important for the Appropriations process to carefully evaluate all disaster supplemental requests to make sure we’re taking a thoughtful and responsible approach,” said Congressman Amodei. “I appreciate FEMA Administrator Criswell and SBA Administrator Guzman for joining our discussion and providing clarity related to their respective requests.”
