Joyce Appointed as Ranking Member of Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior and Environment

WASHINGTON - Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) was appointed to serve as the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior and Environment by House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Kay Granger (TX-12).

“As a representative from the great state of Ohio, I know full-well how important it is to provide for programs that ensure we are protecting our natural resources and preserving them for future generations,” said Dave. “I thank Ranking Member Granger and my colleagues on the Steering Committee for entrusting me with this position. I look forward to ensuring Congress appropriately addresses the funding needs of our nation and continuing to fight for the priorities of Ohio’s 14th District, especially protecting and preserving one of the greatest natural resources and economic powerhouses we have in the United States - the Great Lakes.”

Dave has long worked to protect the Great Lakes, which provide more than 35 million people with drinking water, support more than 3,500 species of plants and animals and generate millions of good-paying jobs. Most recently, in December, Dave led a bipartisan letter urging the Trump Administration to fully fund programs that address harmful algal blooms in the upcoming Fiscal Year 2020 budget request. Previously, in the 115th Congress, Dave led the effort in the House to pass a bipartisan bill combatting harmful algal blooms that often plague the Great Lakes, which also passed the Senate and was signed into law by President Trump on January 8, 2019.

“Representative Joyce is a commonsense conservative who has always represented the people who sent him here and fought for their priorities and their needs,” said Granger. “I look forward to working with him as we seek to ensure the priorities of the American people are reflected in the work of this Committee.”
