Joyce Again Returns Office Funds to U.S. Treasury to Reduce the Deficit

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) announced that he has again returned thousands of taxpayer dollars from his Members’ Representational Allowance (MRA) to the U.S. Treasury for the purposes of deficit reduction.

“Considering that the U.S. is currently over $22 trillion in debt, each year I request that any unused funds from my office be transferred to the Treasury to help reduce the deficit,” said Dave. “I’m proud to report that since I was sent to Washington to represent the people of Northeast Ohio, I have returned over $800,000 in taxpayer dollars to the Treasury. Fiscal responsibility is needed in order to create a stronger, more prosperous nation for the next generation, which is why I began the tradition of returning unused taxpayer funds back when I was the Geauga County Prosecutor. It will take a lot to change how Washington does business, but I will not stop working until we have restored fiscal discipline in our nation’s capital.”
