I believe it is imperative that the federal government learns to live within its means. American families carefully scrutinize their spending. Congress must do the same on behalf of the American people.
I have the privilege to carefully scrutinize the Administration’s budget request each fiscal year as a member of the House Appropriations Committee, and I take that responsibility very seriously.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress deemed it necessary to appropriate over $3.5 trillion in economic stimulus and relief to help Americans tackle many new challenges. However, as we continue to restore our way of life and reignite our economy, I am working to restore fiscal responsibility at the federal level so that we do not saddle future generations with unnecessary economic burdens.
