Joyce Visits Lyndhurst Community Center, Serves Lunch and Discusses Costs of Medication, Home Health Services

LYNDHURST – Today, Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) visited the Lyndhurst Community Center to serve lunch and meet with constituents. Dave was joined by Lyndhurst Community Center Director Melissa Weldon and Community Partnership on Aging Director Wendy Albin Sattin.

"It was great to visit the Lyndhurst Community Center and spend time with seniors in our community," said Dave. "The services provided here, in coordination with local organizations like the Community Partnership on Aging, help enhance the health, entertainment, safety, and overall well-being of the older adults in our community. I'm proud to continue working on behalf of Northeast Ohio seniors to ensure they receive the high quality care they so rightly deserve."

"Congressman Joyce's visit today with participants in our congregate lunch sparked a lot of lively conversation," said Wendy Albin Sattin, AICP, Executive Director of the Community Partnership on Aging. "Our lunch participants raised many issues of concern with the Congressman including Medicare and veteran's benefits. Congressman Joyce's visit gave a voice to our older residents which reflects his longtime support of senior services and benefits. Community Partnership on Aging appreciated Congressman Joyce's visit and looks forward to more interaction with his office."

Dave consistently advocates on behalf of OH-14's seniors in Congress. Just this year, he joined several of his colleagues in introducing H.R. 2150, the Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act of 2019 and cosponsoring H.R. 1873, the Improving HOPE for Alzheimer's and H.R. 2700, the Lowering Prescription Drug Costs and Extending Community Health Centers and Other Public Health Priorities Act. H.R. 2700 helps lower drug prices by increasing incentives for low-cost generic drugs to come to market, while H.R. 2150 ensures more timely access to home health services for Medicare beneficiaries by allowing nurse practitioners, not just doctors, to certify patients' eligibility for home health services, and H.R. 1873 aims to improve Alzheimer's care for seniors by providing outreach and improved reporting on Alzheimer's disease care services currently provided under Medicare.

Earlier this year, Dave also visited the Eastlake Senior Center to serve lunch alongside local Meals on Wheels volunteers. Learn more about that visit here
